Top 10 Shampoos

There are so many kinds of shampoos where does one start.  If you want your hair to do something there is a shampoo for that like creating volume.  Lets at least list some of the top ten shampoos for all the different hair textures that we have. To start with we have shampoos for Dry,Smoothing,Thickening,Volumizing, Moisturising and Curl Enhancing. I don't want to leave out Color Protecting and Damage Repairing and I almost forget shampoo for Oily hair. Now the latest  shampoos is Natural or Organic and that should round off our top ten list.
The  chemicals that are in most of the shampoos today is Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or  SLS it is used in a lot of products that we use on a daily basis. For example toothpaste and mouth rinses and most everything that foams. Most people like that foaming action because it means your hair is squeeky clean. The first ingredient in lauryl salfate is salt it is what gives the thickness to your shampoo and gives you that wonderful lather that you get but at the same time it can be drying and damaging to your hair. When I first became a stylist and someones hair would grab the hair color we all kept a bottle of Prell around to help strip out some of the color.  It was the best shampoo for lightening I had ever used. The hair needed conditioning other wise you could not get a comb thru the hair.
I feel that shampoos that contain conditioner are not good for the hair because they contain chemicals that do nothing but coat the hair. Over time is all they do is make the hair dryer. You do not need to condition hair everytime you shampoo only if it needs it. You can over due the condtioning process. There  are so many kinds of shampoos today I know it is hard to choose.
The new generation coming up and some of the baby boomers are looking for more natural or organic shampoos. These shampoos do not contain the chemicals in them that we have used for years and they also do not contain sodium lauryl sulfate. Most of the new natural or organic shampoos may not lather as well as others. These shampoos should be free of synthetics, parabens and sulfates. They also have a small molecular structure that deeply penetrate bond and repair the hair's cortex while smoothing the cuticle layer of the hair. I would say most of these shampoos contain botanical oils which are highly nourishing to the hair. They also  help to repair damaged hair and it leaves the hair in a silky smooth more manageable. It also puts the shine back that we all need. As we age I do feel that we should use a shampoo that is more gentle to the hair. I've always said when your hair looks good we all have that feeling of confidence with in ourselves.
